Our clinic is staffed by exercise physiologists who provide programmes designed for your individual needs and that adhere to the strict cardiac exercise guidelines as prescribed by the American College of Sports Medicine. www.acsm.org
What can we do for you
The Cardiac Clinic provides supervised and individualised programming for people with most cardiac conditions:
- Individuals at risk – e.g. high blood pressure, high cholesterol, family history, diabetes
- Heart Attack or Stroke
- Cardiomyopathy
- Arrhythmias
- Stable angina
- Pacemaker/Implanted defibrillators (ICDs)
With your consent we will maintain full communication with your GP and/or cardiologist to ensure your exercise programme is integrated with your overall health plan.
Our purpose
- To reduce the risk of further cardiac events in individuals who have already experienced a significant cardiac event (e.g. heart attack, angina)
- To improve the clinical status of individuals who are at risk of having or have already experienced a significant cardiac event (e.g. heart attack)
- To improve the quality of life of individuals by improving functional abilities (e.g. flexibility, strength)
- To provide individuals with a safe and supervised environment to perform exercise
- To provide education in specific cardiac related areas e.g. diet, stress management, pharmacology
- To empower individuals by giving them the knowledge, skills and confidence to incorporate exercise into their ongoing lifestyle
